This local shoe manufacturer needed their stores to appeal to Austin’s primary demographic. The company values quality, comfort and most of all craftsmanship – they make every shoe by hand. From those core principles, we created a clean industrial interior. The new space was inspired by an old pen and ink drawing of factory workers. The piece itself was actually pulled from an archive, reproduced and printed as a large mural, spanning along the entire length of one store wall. In addition to reinforcing the brand’s purpose, the factory scene creates the illusion that workers are tending to their craft beyond the four walls of the store. Continuing with the theme, brick walls, chocolate wood floors and wood and metal shelving – reminiscent of a past era – were brought in to compliment the mural. Red leather accents and artwork offer color to draw the eye in while an inset rug adds warmth and helps with acoustics and comfort.
